Transport Manager

Your entry into international business

As a Transport Manager you control the transport process and coordinate all information flows and various interactions between customers, transport partners, rail and ferry companies, terminals and other players in the supply chain. In addition, you organise and control each individual transport order from booking to unloading the goods, and ensure a smooth process - and all that "just in time". On the other hand, you can also envisage the job as Transport Manager at LKW WALTER like this:

  • In an instant you are right in the middle of working on international business and completing the legendary LKW WALTER Trainee Programme.
  • Tackle new and exciting challenges every day as can only be experienced in an international group.
  • Fight for success independently like an entrepreneur while enjoying the full support and security of the big WALTER family.
  • Communicate, discuss and negotiate in one or more foreign languages on a daily basis to get the most out of everything for all involved.
  • Take regular trips to our European partners and get to know exciting people and their way of thinking.
  • Plan, design and process transports and communication flows with the latest digital technologies and communication media.

Everything ok so far? Then there's more!

In fact, you should also know the following: Transport Manager is also an ideal entry-level job and an exciting task for flexible communication talents. For characters who can work independently as well as in a team, and really want to achieve something.

Because in your position as an interface between our customers and transport partners, as well as a contact person for renowned global players, you control transports that are timed to the minute on the road and in Combined Transport. You win over the customers of tomorrow, audit and develop our service providers, control the economic performance of your area of responsibility and develop strategies for how to succeed in Europe. This requires all the personal resources and skills that you bring to LKW WALTER.

Trucking Manager

Your career opportunity in the high speed range

As a Trucking Manager, you belong to the high-speed specialists at LKW WALTER who set all the traffic lights to green for our transports in Combined Transport and ensure the optimal utilisation of our equipment. Which, for a fleet of more than 8,500 trailers, means nothing more than a considerable challenge ahead. Because it is you who plans and organises these transports. Specifically, you deal with the collection of the goods from the loading points, their on-time delivery to railway stations and ports, as well as the onward transport from there.

In addition, as a Trucking Manager, you are a key contact person. Internally for our Transport Managers. Externally for transport partners, logistics departments, ports, railway companies, etc. In this respect, it is obvious that you need to have great organisation and communication skills. As well as being stress resistant and having the ability to work independently. But the fact is: even more exciting tasks are waiting for you:

  • You create concepts for optimising pre- and post-carriage in Combined Transport.
  • You travel to our business partners (ports and railway companies) and suppliers throughout Europe.
  • Performing car park audits and terminal assessments is also part of your job.
  • Our Transport Partner Management team relies on your support in organising parking for the equipment.
  • You coordinate and plan entire company trains! That means you take responsibility in cooperation with the logistics department of the respective customer.
  • Trucker acquisition and auditing as well as pricing and collective negotiations are also your responsibility.
  • In addition, you inform and train our transport partners and their truck drivers at events.
Do you think that sounds like a high-speed job? You're right. At the same time, however, we can assure you that we will introduce you to your tasks step by step as part of a comprehensive trainee programme. Based on your commercial training and your interest in foreign languages, we'll change up a gear day by day, giving you the go-ahead for your career at LKW WALTER.
